The Health Ministry continued to log three-digit Covid-19 cases, with 563 reported as of noon today. Its director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said only one of the 563 cases was an imported one.
Sabah still recorded the highest number of infections at 291, while Penang registered 141 cases from the Remand Prison cluster. Selangor recorded 69 new cases, Kuala Lumpur (27); Negri Sembilan (12); and Kedah (10). Other states that recorded single-digit cases were Perak (four cases), Johor, Putrajaya and Labuan with two cases, and Sarawak and Melaka with one case each.
This increases the tally of cases to 16,220 nationwide with 5,039 active cases.
Dr Noor Hisham also said another 109 people have recovered from the virus, increasing the number of discharged patiensts to 11,022 or 67.9 per cent.
The ministry also recorded two new deaths, in Tawau and Tuaran Hospitals, both in Sabah. The death toll now stands at 159 cases or one per cent of the total.
