Only 6.1 per cent of Malaysians or more than 1.46 million people have registered to receive the COVID-19 vaccine through the MySejahtera application as of 11am on Monday, said the Coordinating Minister for the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme, Khairy Jamaluddin.
According to him, the number is still low if we take into account the target of 80 pe rcent of Malaysians to be vaccinated by next year.
“The registration rate may be low due to the ‘wait and see’ attitude and we are already expecting such a situation. However, I am confident that registration will increase after we open various registration channels online and at hospitals or clinics starting March 5,” he said at a press conference which was also attended by the Minister of Health, Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba.
Meanwhile, Khairy informed that a total of 17,064 people have received the vaccine throughout Malaysia.
He added that Kuching district recorded the highest number of vaccine recipients at 1,677 people.
This was followed by Sibu district with 1,360 individuals, Kinta (1,141), Kuantan (1,075) and Mukah with 822 individuals.”
Meanwhile, for the states with the highest number of vaccinations are Sarawak at 7,402 individuals, Pahang (2,419) and Perak at 1,277 individuals,” he said.
