PARIS: The government plans of most countries around the world to ‘return to normal may not be achieved in the next few years after the emergence of various Covid-19 variants.

So far ii, the Delta variant ‘topped the charts of the most dangerous Covid-19 variant, seeing almost one world paralyzed as a result of its transmission.

The European Union (EU) yesterday announced that it has provided a sufficient number of Covid-19 vaccine injections, which is almost 70 percent of the population of the block.

“By today, about 500 million doses will be given to the population in all European countries,” said European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

However, according to the European Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the percentage of Europeans aged 18 and over who have already received a complete dose of the Covid-19 vaccine is only 44.1 percent.

In South Korea, the vaccination program is also running slowly when only 11 percent of its 52 million population has already received a complete vaccine.

A similar situation occurred in Pakistan when less than eight percent of the population had already received the Covid-19 vaccine.

Meanwhile, Russia announced cases of coronavirus infection continue to rise and the total is now over 5.7 million cases with 142,253 deaths.

Meanwhile, in Indonesia, dozens of medical staff who had received the complete vaccine were reported to have died due to Covid-19 infection.

The situation caused the country’s government to plan for a third dose to increase the level of immunization of medical workers using the Moderna vaccine. – AFP
