KOTA BHARU – More than 300,000 individuals have been automatically registered as voters with the state Election Commission (EC) under Undi18.
Kelantan EC director Fakhrul Razi Ab Wahab said the figure was recorded as of December 31, last year.
He added the youths were among 1.3 million eligible to vote in the state.
“The youths were automatically registered under Undi18 once the registration was opened by the government.
“They were from all over the state with a majority of them from Kota Baru,” he said.
Earlier this year when visiting Kelantan, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob had said more than four million individuals aged 18 years old had been automatically registered as voters as of Jan 16.
EC secretary Datuk Ikmalrudin Ishak said Section 3(a) and (b) of the Constitution (Amendment) Act 2019 had been gazetted on Dec 1, last year.
