SERDANG: A resident who lived near the site of a landslide which struck Jalan Wawasan 3/9 Taman Wawasan, Puchong here on Saturday, did not rule out the possibility of moving if the accident recurs.

Tung Ei Lee, 42, said that for now, her family has not been ordered to evacuate as their house was not affected.

Tung, an accountant, said she was at home when the incident happened around 7pm.

She said he heard a loud boom followed by screams.

“I tried to compose myself before calling the emergency helpline,” she said when met at the scene.

Tung said she was relieved when the authorities arrived at the scene to help the occupants of the nine affected houses.

She said she was grateful that her house was spared.

She said if her family was ordered to evacuate, they would move to a relative’s house nearby.

She hoped that there would be no more landslides and that the authorities would ensure that the area is safe.

Meanwhile, Subang member of parliament Wong Chen said his office would be channeling aid to the flood and landslide victims.

Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, meanwhile, said they are keeping close tabs on the incident.

“I have received preliminary information from the Selangor Public Works Department. I was also told that the area falls under the purview of the Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ),” he said in a statement.

He said MBSJ is taking appropriate action to manage the issue.

“The Public Works Department has yet to receive any application from the local council. Nevertheless, we are ready to help in any capacity,” he said.
