KUANTAN – Instead of joining their classmates in the examination halls today, five Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) candidates in Pahang will sit for their examinations from hospitals.
The five candidates who were hospitalised due to separate accident cases are among the 20,675 Form Five students who will be sitting for the SPM examination at 11 districts in Pahang, starting today.
State Education department director Mohammad Rosli Abdul Rahman said a total 10,137 male and 10,538 female candidates have registered to sit for their SPM examination at 264 centres in Pahang this year.
“Of the total, 1,375 are from state religious secondary schools, 817 are private candidates, 214 are candidates from a private school, 100 special needs candidates and 91 from community religious secondary schools.
“Five candidates are sitting for their examination in hospitals while 22 candidates who were reported ill including recovering from accidents and other non-Covid-19 related illnesses are sitting for their exams under the observation of invigilators,” he told reporters after meeting the SPM candidates at SMK Sultan Abu Bakar here today.
Meanwhile, Rosli said to date, none of the SPM candidates in Pahang were affected by the recent flash floods or serving home quarantine due to Covid-19.
