KUALA LUMPUR: The flood situation in the east coast has seen gradual improvement as of noon today with the number of evacuees decreasing.
According to the Social Welfare Department’s Disaster Info portal, the number of flood victims in Kelantan has dropped to 13,827 people currently taking shelter in 39 temporary evacuation centres as of noon.
These individuals, belonging to 4,474 families, have been placed in relief centres across four districts: Pasir Mas, Tumpat, Jeli, and Kuala Krai.
In Terengganu, flood victims dropped to 715, housed at 12 temporary evacuation centres in the district of Dungun.
Meanwhile in Pahang, 145 flood victims from 40 families are sheltering at six evacuation centres across the districts of Maran, Bera and Temerloh.
In the south, the portal reported that two temporary evacuation centres remain open, housing 55 flood victims from 15 families.
They are housed at evacuation centres in Segamat.
