Floods Hit All Eight Districts in Terengganu

SETIU – Floods have hit all eight districts in Terengganu affecting 3,813 people from 1,103 families who have sought shelter at 81 relief centres. As at 10pm, flood victims in Kemaman rose to 1,920 people from 512 families who are now staying at 21 flood relief centres.

In Setiu, 530 people from 165 families sought shelter at 17 relief centres and in Dungun 107 people from 30 families are at six relief centres. 

In addition, in Besut, 443 people from 97 families were evacuated to 16 relief centres and in Hulu Terengganu, 651 people from 250 families sought shelter at 14 relief centres.

Marang, Kuala Terengganu and Kuala Nerus are the latest districts affected by the floods. In Marang, five people from one family were evacuated to a relief centre and in Kuala Terengganu, 46 people from 37 families were evacuated to four flood relief centres. In Kuala Nerus, 121 people from 37 families were evacuated to four flood relief centres.

State Disaster Management Committee secretariat in updating the flood situation said the rainfall had not abated and agencies are prepared for rescue operations should the situation worsen.
