Kelantan Flood Situation Improving

KOTA BHARU – The flood situation in Kelantan has improved  significantly with only eight relief centres (PPS) still in operations this morning.

All eight PPS are in the Pasir Mas area, housing 1,559 victims.

According to the state welfare department’s flood portal, the victims include 38 babies.

A total 458 of them were evacuated to SK Tok Deh, SK Kubang Kual (314), SK Gual Periok (279), SK Gual Tinggi (160), SK Sri Kiambang (135), PPS Putat Tujuh (79), Masjid Mukim Padang Licin (69) and SK Kedai Tanjong (65).

Only the Pasir Mas district remained affected by floods while other districts have returned to normal.

In Kelantan, only two rivers recorded levels above their warning marks while the water level at other major rivers in the state has decreased.

The two rivers are Sungai Kelantan in Kuala Krai and Kampung Temangan as well as Sungai Golok in Pasir Mas.

The river in Kuala Krai was at 22.52m at 8 am, today while in Kampung Temangan, it was at 16.29m.

Sungai Golok was measured at 8.86m which is 0.86m above its warning level of 8m.
