Kelantan Flood Situation Improving, Only Golok River Above Danger Level

KOTA BHARU – Flood situation in Kelantan continue to improve today with only Golok river in Rantau Panjang exceeding the danger level. Water levels at other rivers have dropped and measured below the warning and alert marks respectively.

According to the state Welfare Department’s flood portal, as of 10am this morning, the Golok river was measured at 9.92m. It mean the Golok river measured 0.92m above the danger mark of 9m.

The portal also stated that less rain in the state since yesterday resulted in levels at other major rivers in Kelantan to drop slowly.

It also said, the number of flood evacuees this morning continued to drop compared to yesterday. As of 10am, 3,408 victims were taking shelters at 28 relief centres in four districts.

Gua Musang, Pasir Mas, Kuala Krai and Tanah Merah was the four affected districts because of floods. Kuala Krai had 14 relief centres, followed by Pasir Mas (nine centres), Gua Musang (three) and Tanah Merah (two).

Several villages especially those located in the low-lying areas along Golok river, remained inundated by floodwaters today. No fatalities were reported in the state since the floods struck last Friday.
