KOTA BHARU – The Kelantan government will contribute RM100,000 each to the Selangor and Pahang to aid the flood-hit states.
Menteri Besar, Datuk Ahmad Yakob said the donation would be made under its Serambi Mekah fund.
“The Kelantan government would like to express its deepest condolences to the people of Selangor and Pahang especially those who have lost their homes and properties.
“We sympathise and are saddened by the loss that they have encountered. Hopefully, the donation will help the two states,” he said in a statement today.
Ahmad who is Pasir Pekan assemblyman, also hoped that the efforts made by the rescue teams and the volunteers would be expedited and go accordingly to plan.
Recently, Selangor and Pahang were the most affected states hit by floods. The flood in the states damaged home and other properties. Other than that, flood also forced many people to be evacuated, some went missing and were stranded while several people drowned.
Senior Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammudin Tun Hussein posted on Facebook recently stating that 4th Division personnel have been mobilised and were on the ground to assist operations in Kuala Langat. They will focusing on delivering daily necessities to relief centres.
The Home Ministry announced on Facebook that the 4th Batallion of the General Operations Force (GOF) in Semenyih are continuing efforts to evacuate flood victims in the Batu 14 Hulu Langat area. Beside that, 6th Batallion of the GOF in Muar would conduct rescue and evacuation operations in Shah Alam tonight.
Around 450 motorist who were stranded along a stretch of the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Highway since yesterday have been brought out in stages using boats. The boats belonging to the East CoastExpressway.
