KOTA BHARU – The Sultan of Kelantan, Sultan Muhammad V is hopeful that the East Coast Expressway Phase 3 (LPT3) project will create a comprehensive highway network transportation system in the East Coast region.
The ruler also believes that the project can help ease traffic congestion as well as reduce the road accident rate in the state.
“I also hope that the project will help improve the economy of the local people,” he said in his royal address at the opening of the 14th State Assembly Sitting at the Darulnaim complex here today.
Sultan Muhammad also hoped that the construction of the Pengkalan Kubor-Tak Bai bridge would improve ties between Malaysia and Thailand.
“A good infrastructure development is the key to a country’s progress.”
“Therefore, I am highly confident that this bridge project will provide a positive socio-economic and development impact for Pengkalan Kubor and its surrounding areas,” said the Ruler.
On the floods in Kelantan, Sultan Muhammad hoped both the federal and state governments could give special attention to the Integrated River Basin Development Project (PLSB), especially the Sungai Lebir dam as well as flood mitigation projects.
Sultan Muhammad also said he realised that many locals have ventured into home-based online businesses following the implementation of the Movement Control Order in 2020.
“I hope that the state government can provide more assistance in terms of equipment, courses and counselling sessions to them in helping them to generate more income.”
“I would also like to suggest to the young people in the state to grab whatever opportunity related to the internet-based technology as their business platform,” he added.
The Ruler urged Kelantan Digital Corporation to assist entrepreneurs in the state to expand their business.
