KUANTAN – Clear sunny skies across the state saw the number of flood victims improving with 16,579 people remaining at six-flood hit districts.
As of 8am, the victims from 5,073 families were occupying 119 evacuation centres compared to 18,447 victims recorded early yesterday.
The worst affected district – Temerloh – which registered 9,165 people yesterday recorded continuous improvement with 7,807 people from 2,266 families seeking shelter at 32 relief centres.
Bentong registered 3,067 people from 1,196 families in 16 relief centres. Bera had 1,975 victims from 557 families at 17 relief centres.
Pekan has 1,917 victims from 614 families seeking shelter at 25 relief centres while Maran, with 1,386 victims from 400 families at 25 relief centres.
Kuantan, which recorded some 16,000 flood victims during the peak of the floods last week recorded a significant dip with 427 victims from 116 families staying at four relief centres.

A state Civil Defence Force (APM) spokesman said preparations are ready in the event of a second wave of floods while the weather in most districts has shown improvement.
Meanwhile, Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah is scheduled to visit the flood victims in Mentakab, Temerloh today.
