KUALA LUMPUR – The Covid-19 pandemic has changed the way families communicate, with many family member now using digital technology for communicate.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the situation led to a transformation in communication, social patterns and the introduction of new norms.
However, he said the situation also caused many to neglect the use of certain manners and ethics in the cyber world.
“Digital technology helps a lot and eases our activities. However, there is also misuse of technology in the use of the internet and social media by those who are not responsible, hence leading to various types of threats and cybercrimes.
“The Malaysian Family needs to play a role in shaping personality and self-control to instil and strengthen community cohesion in the cyber ecosystem so cyber threats and crimes can be addressed.
“Moreover, it is to create a positive and prosperous cyber environment,” he said in a social media post today.
In conjunction with the Safer Internet Day 2022 Malaysia Edition themed Kita Siber, he called on the people to continue to cultivate an attitude of responsibility towards themselves and others by adopting communication methods, taking into account inclusiveness and responsibility as well as increasing familiarity to form a harmonious digital community.
