The lady driver of a Perodua Myvi which was involved in a three-vehicle collision which killed a navy personnel near Plaza Pelangi here last Saturday was sentenced to six years’ jail and fined a total of RM11,300, in default 19 months’ jail, by the Magistrate’s Court here today.
Magistrate Suhaila Shafi’uddin handed down the punishment on Nur Fatin Nasrah Suhaimi, 23, after she pleaded guilty to all four charges in connection with the fatal crash.
The woman also lost her eligibility to hold and renew her driving licence for five years.
Suhaila sentenced Nur Fatin Nasrah to six years’ jail and fine of RM8,000, in default six months’ jail, on the first charge with driving under the influence of drug.
On the other three counts, she was charged with driving without a valid driving licence, using a vehicle without a road tax and insurance, for which she was fined RM1,500, in default six months’ jail, RM1,000 (four months’ jail) and RM800 (three months’ jail), respectively.
