KUALA LUMPUR – Starting this week, the Health Ministry has allowed primary school students to be tested for Covid-19 at home instead of their respective schools.

Education Minister Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin said under the National Covid-19 Testing Strategy, the students would be provided with the Antigen Rapid Self-Test kit by their respective schools.

Radzi said the students would have to inform their schools the result of their Covid-19 self-test.

He said in a clip that was uploaded on his official Facebook account that the ministry will be issuing a media statement to explain further details about the Covid-19 self-test guideline at homes,” he said in a clip that was uploaded on his official Facebook account.

The National Covid-19 Testing Strategy previously involved 10 per cent of primary school pupils selected at random for the self test at their respective schools since Dec 1 last year.

Radzi also reminded parents of their important role to carry out the tests according to the guideline that will be issued soon.

“This is to ensure that the school session will proceed smoothly and in a safe manner.

“If the test is not conducted properly according to the set procedures, the students, their friends and teachers in school will be affected.

“Therefore, it is important that once we begin this new approach (conducting Covid-19 self-tests at home), parents play an important role to ensure that it is done according to the guideline and the standard operating procedures set by the Health Ministry,” he said.
