KUANTAN – Helping flood victims in Pahang to cope with the aftermath of the floods, the state government will contribute RM500 to each household affected in the disaster.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said the flood relief aid was a reflection of the state government’s continuous concern with the plight of the flood victims and to help ease their burden.
“The four categories of recipients include those who moved to temporary evacuation centres (PPS), did not evacuate to PPS but sought temporary shelter with relatives and those who stay at rented house.
He said in a statement today, “Those who decide to stay put at their inundated homes will also be entitled to the cash aid. The cash aid is according to the financial capability of the state. This is similar to the help the state government had previously given to flood victims.”
Pahang remains as one of the worst-hit states in the first wave of floods with some 37,000 people displaced by the disaster which hit several districts on Dec 17.
According to the Welfare Department’s flood portal, there were 37,467 people from 10,985 families who had been evacuated to 260 relief centres in nine districts, as of 10am, today.
