KUALA LUMPUR – The Health Ministry will begin offering the CoronaVac Suspension for Injection Covid-19 Vaccine (Vero Cell), Inactivated produced by Sinovac, from tomorrow under the Covid-19 National Immunisation Programme for Children (PICKids).
Deputy Health Minister Datuk Dr Noor Azmi Ghazali said the Sinovac-made vaccine will be offered at selected vaccination centres.
He said children who cannot receive the Comirnaty (Pfizer) vaccine for health reasons will instead be offered the CoronaVac vaccine.
Parents will also be given the option to opt for the CoronaVac vaccine for their children if they do not agree to the Comirnaty vaccine.
“Parents may refer to the list of vaccination centres which offer the CoronaVac vaccine via walk-in at the Health Ministry and PHCorp websites.
“Two doses of the CoronaVac vaccine will be administered with a four-week interval in order to obtain a fully-vaccinated status,” he said in a statement today.
The Sinovac-made Covid-19 vaccine was approved for administration to children aged five to 11 earlier this month.
According to the CovidNow website, as of March 5, a total of 123,053 of children aged 12 and below have been infected with the virus.
