TUMPAT – Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Agama Nurul Huda in Kampung Kajang Sebidang, here, which was inundated by 1.5m of floodwaters, is expected to reopen early next month.

The school’s administrator Ariffin Misk said the school was badly affected by the recent floods, resulting in damages to property and learning materials.

“We organised a massive gotong-royong earlier this week to clean the school. Hopefully, it can reopen on April 4,” he said.

He estimated the losses at about RM40,000 including important belongings and electrical goods.

Ariffin said the floods also caused 45 students to sit for the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination at another centre.

“We had to move the 45 SPM candidates to Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Cabang Empat to sit for the exams.

“This students were sent to the centre several days earlier,” he said.

The 45 were among 407,097 SPM candidates in the country sitting for the examination which began early this month.

Kampung Kajang Sebidang was among the worst hit by the floods recently, resulting in more than 100 villagers to be evacuated.
