KOTA BHARU – Pas vice-president Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah said it is up to the federal government to accept a suggestion on the setting up of a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) to determine the causes of the recent unprecedented floods in several states.
The deputy Menteri Besar said only the federal government could decide in the issue which was suggested by Penang deputy chief minister II.
“The suggestion was made to the federal government. So, Pas cannot comment further on the matter.
He said, “we will leave it to the government to make the decision and it is up to them whether to agree or not with the suggestion.”
He told this to reporters after attending the state executive councillor meeting at Darulnaim Complex here today.
The Panchor assemblyman was commenting on remarks by the Penang deputy chief minister II on the setting up of an RCI to determine the causes of the recent floods.
Professor P. Ramasamy in a statement today urged the government to set up the RCI to determine the causes and mitigation measures for the recent unprecedented floods in several states.
He said it is important to ascertain the actual causes of the tragedy.
