The Youth and Sports Ministry is calling on Malaysians to register as volunteers under the Malaysia Vaccine Support Volunteers (MYVAC) initiative to stem the spread of Covid-19.

Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican called on all Malaysians aged 18 and above who are in good health to either register as a volunteer under the medical or general category.

“The MYVAC volunteers will be assigned for duty at vaccination centres nationwide. They can also choose the time and location as per their convenience.

“A virtual training session will be conducted for volunteers who meet the required criteria,” he said in a statement today.

The initiative, he said, was a holistic initiative based on the whole-of-society approach, which involved the government and non-governmental organisations (NGO) to ensure the smooth implementation of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (NIP).

Reezal said the ministry would embark on outreach programmes nationwide to rope in some 6,000 volunteers for the initiative.

MYVAC was launched on March 15 by Science, Technology and Innovation Minister (Mosti) Khairy Jamaluddin, who also serves as the coordinating minister for NIP. The initiative is supported by the Health Ministry, the Higher Education Ministry and the Malaysian Red Crescent Society.

Members of the public, especially youths, are encouraged to register at https://www.myvac.com.my.
